7:50 PM - 8:30 PMMain ShulThis Shabbat, May 13, between Mincha and Maariv, Rabbi Yehuda Gilad will discuss "The Uniqueness and the Challenge of Eretz Yisrael.” Rabbi Gilad is Co-Rosh Yeshiva of Yeshivat Maaleh Gilboa and rabbi of Kibbutz Lavi in the Galil. He has served on the executive board of Beit Hillel, a Torah leadership organization, and is involved in many projects helping to bridge gaps between religious and secular Jews in Israel. He was a member of the Knesset from 2002 to 2003 and served on the Education and Labor Committees. The son-in-law of Rabbi Yehuda Amital zt”l, Rabbi Gilad is involved in the publication of his father-in-law’s writings. He is a national spokesman for the morally sensitive in the religious community and has earned recognition for his outspoken views and grassroots activism in promoting a Jewish and a democratic state, one without contradiction and without coercion from the religious establishment.
