High Holidays 2020 -5781

Below is important information regarding planning and reservations for Rosh Hashana/Yom Kippur. Keep in mind, that should factors change, we will reassess our plan closer to the Holidays.

COVID Considerations

The below guidelines will be adhered to during davening:

  • We will be required to be socially distant (i.e., 6 feet apart) and wearing masks. Family members will be able to sit together.
  • Minyanim will be significantly shorter (i.e., 2-3 hours) to help ensure all persons can daven at a minyan.
  • We will not be offering groups/child care this year due to the use of all of our spaces for minyanim.
  • We will be holding staggered minyanim both inside AND outside of the building to allow for everyone who would like to participate in davening to do so. The outdoor minyanim will take place in open tents (i.e., no walls) at the shul and at other locations as needed.
  • We are working on having outdoor shofar blowing available after davening, for those unable to come or uncomfortable coming to davening.

General Davening and Reservation Information

  • As mentioned above, davening will take place at a multitude of locations, both indoor and outdoor. Due to limitations of space at each location, we will not be able to accommodate seating requests.
  • We will be opening up seats for all full members in good standing. If you are not sure of your status as a member in good standing, please reach out to Pearl Magence at treasurer@shaaretefillah.org. Once we have completed reservations for full members, we will assess our ability to open seats for associates and guests.
  • You will be able to buy seats for children who are of Chinuch age, who can sit for the entirety of davening.
  • In order to accommodate our membership and to allow everyone to daven in a socially distant environment, we must rent/purchase tents. To partially offset the associated costs, we will be increasing the cost of seats for this year by a small amount. We thank everyone in advance for coming together to help ensure everyone has the opportunity to daven.
  • Due to the limited number of persons at each minyan, we ask that if you commit to a minyan, you attend that Minyan on time.
  • Though the reservation form will include approximate times for each minyan, they will be adjusted as needed subsequent to the reservations, based on the responses provided to ensure a minyan at each location.
  • We will be asking that all women and all men in each family daven at the same time to the extent possible to allow for us to maximize our space.
